Original Hot Yoga Teacher Training
Fall 2026 · Natick, MA
This training exists to keep the life-changing practice of original hot yoga alive and strong — by preparing teachers who are steady, capable, and ready to show up for real students in real yoga rooms.
Hometown Sweat’s 240-hour, in-person Original Hot Yoga Teacher Training is rooted in the Ghosh lineage, focused on discipline, service, and real-world teaching skill.
WHY THIS TRAINING EXISTS
Original Hot Yoga has changed the lives of countless students — physically, mentally, and emotionally. Its power lies in its structure, consistency, and accessibility. The same sequence. The same room. A practice that meets people exactly where they are.
But practices don’t sustain themselves.
They continue because teachers are trained thoughtfully, responsibly, and with respect for the work and the students in front of them.
In recent years, the pipeline of Original Hot Yoga teachers has fractured. Fewer comprehensive trainings, fewer prepared teachers, and fewer clear paths for students who feel called to go deeper.
This training exists to help rebuild that path.
Not by rushing people through a certification, and not by putting the focus on performance or personality — but by teaching people how to teach.
Through disciplined study, consistent practice, and hands-on teaching experience, trainees learn how to guide others with clarity, humility, and confidence.
Some graduates will go on to teach at Hometown Sweat. Others will teach elsewhere. Some may choose not to teach at all. All will leave with a deeper understanding of the practice, stronger self-trust, and a meaningful connection to a lineage that deserves to be carried forward with care.
This is stewardship in action.
This is how the practice stays alive and strong.

““My experience during Hometown Sweat’s first Original Hot Yoga teacher training changed my life, and I’m not trying to be dramatic. I’ve been a consistent practitioner of OHY for at least 10 years, and deciding to join the teacher training at HTS was a decision I took very seriously. After just the first day of training with six other devoted yogis, I knew that the experience was something I wanted to throw myself into entirely. Just like the 26 & 2 series, the teacher training challenged me in new ways every single day. From the memorization - and it was INTENSE - to the deep dives into every single posture, the confidence I built in my practice, and the community and life-long friendships I built, I am forever grateful to Maria McBride and Hometown Sweat for this opportunity. To quote Annie Dillard, “how we spend our days is, of course, how we spend our lives.” The time I spent learning, rehearsing, bonding, and growing during teacher training is most certainly how I want to spend my life.” - Lizzie, 2024 OHY TT Graduate”

““The teacher training that Maria ran was a powerful experience of deep learning in supportive group and environment. We studied, practiced and learned the postures and the dynamics of teaching and thru that we came to know more about ourselves. We laughed through our mistakes, grew in courage in each attempt, and stayed determined in our passion to one day teach this life changing series to others. If your interest is peaked, dive in - original hot yoga has so many layers to offer you as a developing teacher and life long practitioner.” Catherine, 2024 OHY TT Graduate”

“I’ve been teaching Original Hot yoga since 2008.
This practice has saved me in so many ways by helping me heal lingering running injuries, keeping my body healthy through three pregnancies, and helping my mind stay clear and calm during challenging seasons. I knew I needed to learn to teach this yoga when I began hearing about others experiences of how their lives were so positively changed by practicing original hot yoga. I knew I wanted to help deliver this practice. Over the years, I’ve been fortunate enough to witness so many (hundreds? thousands??) of people continue to improve their lives with Original Hot Yoga. In order for folks to have access to these classes, we need to have compassionate, knowledgable teachers who can teach this healing and transformative practice. I’m honored to be offering this Teacher Training at Hometown Sweat!”
A note about participating if you don’t think you want to teach…
If you love this practice and want to learn more but aren’t sure if you want to teach, that’s ok. This training could still be for you since we will be covering the 26 postures and two breathing exercises in such extensive detail. You can learn how to practice sustainably - truly for the rest of your life - with this Teacher Training.
We hope you will apply!
