hot pilates & sculpt teacher training

We know that you sign up for your Hot Pilates & Sculpt classes 10 days in advance.
We know how good your body AND your mind feel from taking these classes.
We know you have your favorite exercises, your favorite class formats, and your favorite songs.

We also know you’ve wondered… what would it be like to teach this class?!

Well this winter, you’ll get to find out!

Hot Pilates and Sculpt transform the lives of hundreds of students at Hometown Sweat every single day.

These classes build more than core stability, muscular strength, and cardiovascular fitness. They challenge people to work hard, push past their comfort zones, and discover what they're capable of. Students leave stronger, more confident, and better equipped to take on whatever comes next.

And because our classes are accessible and adaptable, they meet people where they are. Movements can be modified, progressions can be added, and the work can evolve as students get stronger. This is a practice people can return to and build on through every stage of life.

So, what brings you to teacher training?

Maybe you know you want to lead a room full of people.
Maybe you want to deepen your understanding of movement, strength, and your own practice.
Maybe you see yourself working one-on-one with students.
Or maybe you simply know there's more you want to learn, and this is the next step.

The Hometown Sweat Hot Pilates & Sculpt Teacher Training is an opportunity to learn the method, understand the movement, build your skills, and challenge yourself in a new way. Whether your goal is to teach, grow your own practice, or explore where this knowledge might take you, you'll leave with a stronger foundation and a deeper understanding of the work.

We're excited to get to work.

During the Hot Pilates & Sculpt Teacher Training, you will learn:

  • Class programming: How to build and program effective Hot Pilates & Sculpt classes that are safe, challenging, accessible, and engaging.

  • Intentional cueing: How to give clear, concise cues that help students understand the movement, find proper form, and get the most out of their practice.

  • The anatomy of the core: An in-depth look at core anatomy, function, and stability, led by Dr. Jaime Martuscello, Physical Therapist, Hometown Sweat student, and owner of Wave Physical Therapy.

  • The science of Tabata: Understand the principles behind the Tabata method, interval training, and how they apply to our Hot Pilates class format.

  • Movement mechanics: Explore planes of movement and how they inform exercise selection, muscular balance, and class programming.

  • The posture clinic: An in-depth breakdown of the exercises in our classes, including proper setup, alignment, execution, and common movement patterns.

  • Modifications and progressions: How to offer thoughtful modifications and progressions so students of different fitness levels and abilities can work at an appropriate level while continuing to build strength.

  • Understanding your students: How to recognize different fitness levels, identify common movement limitations, and create an environment where students feel both challenged and supported.

  • Teaching in the heat: Understand the unique considerations of teaching and exercising in a heated environment, including heat acclimation, humidity, hydration, pacing, and helping students navigate the physical demands of a hot class.

  • Music and class experience: How to curate a playlist that supports the pace, energy, and structure of your class.

  • Working with your timer: Learn to manage your intervals, transitions, and timing with confidence (or, as Maria likes to say, "become one with your timer!").

Finding your teaching voice: Learn to access your belly voice, develop vocal strength and control, project confidently, and use your voice to command a room without straining.

  • Putting it into practice: Get on the mic and teach a section of a class, putting your new skills to work and getting real-time feedback.

Your Lead Teacher

The Hometown Sweat Hot Pilates Teacher Training will be led by studio owner, Maria McBride.

“I began teaching hot pilates in 2018, just a few months after having my third baby...

when i knew that i needed to find something to help rebuild my core. I had just had my third baby in less than four years, and i got a big wake up call when i realized i couldn’t hold a forearm plank for more than a few seconds. it was as if my brain and my abdominal muscles could not and would not communicate! being somone who loves sweating, the idea that we could do another modality in the hot room that would help enhance our yoga seemed like the perfect way to invite these core strengthening exercises into my life and into the hometown sweat community. i dove into the world of hot pilates, teaching and practicing as much as i could. i love how Hot pilates & Sculpt provide a well-rounded, challenging workout while remaining low impact and beginner friendly. The low impact nature of hot pilates & sculpt keeps the class accessible for folks at every level, and the core work supports and enhances what we practice in yoga. I’m beyond pumped to be offering this next hot pilates & Sculpt teacher training here at hometown sweat, and i’m thrilled for you to experience this magic on a deeper level!”

A note about participating if you don’t know if you want to teach…

If you love Hot Pilates & Sculpt but aren’t sure whether you want to teach, this Teacher Training is still for you. Learning something as if you were going to teach it will help you to deepen your own practice which will in turn help you when you show up on your mat in the hot room. Even if teaching isn’t in your future, we’re here to support you during Teacher Training!
